A little CTF fun for the Summer
« on: July 25, 2009, 12:17:36 PM »
Hello,

If anyone would like to play some (OA 0.8.1) CTF on Sunday, 26 July join us here:

1. Please Enable AutoDownloads at least for the duration of the event.

2a. Connect to 208.85.4.48:27970 from 2:00PM (14:00) to 4:00PM (16:00) USA Eastern Standard Time

or

2b. Connect to 208.85.4.48:27970 from 9:00PM (21:00) to 11:00PM (23:00) USA Eastern Standard Time

Time Conversion for those who live in a different time zone: TimeLink

Features:
Capture the Flag
Return the Flag
One Flag Capture the Flag
14 maps
20 player slots
44 spectator slots

Capture the Flag (CTF):

Like TDM but with the added dimension of having to achieve an objective.
Capture the Enemy’s Flag and take it back to your base to score a point.

Return the Flag (RTF):

RTF is more difficult than regular Capture the Flag but it is also a better team game.  The difference is that if your team flag is moved you cannot return it to your base by merely touching it.  You have to take it back, so watch out!

One Flag Capture the Flag (1FCTF):

In 1FCTF, you have to pickup the Neutral Flag (White Flag) in the middle of the map and try to get to the enemy’s base to score a point.

Don’t forget that it’s the enemy’s base and therefore well protected!  You may stand a better chance of winning if most of your team goes on offense.

Hello Zero,

I think my post is pretty clear - the 1st line says it all.  But if it is not, I apologize for the confusion.

You are correct.  That's why I posted it in General Discussion and not Clan Wars.

Hehe nice idea WaspKiller, thanks.   :)

About the Times:

21:00 is 15:00 for most of Evil (cest), 16:00 for Monako (maybe NekoMimi too)  ;)

Zero: Good to know your FPS is better now.

When I checked option 2a (see above), I couldn't get on the server cause it used protocol .68. I dunno if it will be changed, but I can take a look again on 20:00.

Happy Bday Zero.

---------

I would like to thank the members of Evil who attended the 1st CTF Event.  I know E+ is not your Mod and it was probably difficult for you to have really enjoyed yourselves.  So a special thanks to those who braved the speed and stayed for several maps.  It was a pleasure playing with you guys.

For those who are still wondering what was the purpose of the events it was simply to Promote E+, get Clanless and Clan players together for a little fun, and possibly interest some players to OA who might not be interested in baseoa but like the speed and power of E+.

For the Evil members who attended, if you liked the experience please consider setting up your own E+ Server:
http://oa.goquake.com/?page_id=72

For those players who have no intention of trying it again do check out the other Mods in OA like Defrag and AlternateFire.

One of the things that I always liked about Quake III was the amount of Mods that were created for it.  These made the game more popular as they expanded the choice of game play styles. OA has all the benefits of Q3 and much more but it is sorely in need of some promotion.  Anything to attract more people to it is a good thing in my opinion.

Tnx for the above info WaspKiller,

After yesterdays games I have played the mod once more and now I'm really starting to like it. It feels a bit like cpm movements, but then with the peppered jumping/bounceback.

I think I will connect to your server more often :)

I played E+ @ Q3A, well, this mod dominate the whole game atm.. (1.32 at least) i loved it to play TDM,FFA and Freezetag(or how is it called), but IMO its not for ctf. Why? Cause i suck. Thats allxD

Cool.  Yes, E+ utilizes unlagged technology from the Unlagged Mod, and various features from the CPMA, InstaGib, and OSP Mods.

Ok, but bring a friend because:

1.  The Servers are often empty except for a few bots

and

2.  Me and my guys generally play between 21:00 (9:00PM) and midnight New York time which is not suitable for Europeans.

lol.  I host 5 OA E+ Servers each running a different gametype - CTF, Freeze Tag, TDM, FFA, and 1v1, so feel free to check out the others with a friend.  We play CTF and TAG most of the time.

I am the former leader of WASP in Q3 E+ and one of the reasons I resigned was to try and promote E+ in OA prior to the next version of E+ (1.04).
