Just a little suggestion. On the homepage is the recent posts block on the left, and it does what the title says: it shows all recent posts. But I don't find it quite usefull when there has been posted in multiple topics, as you see every single reply everyone made the list soon is longer than the max number of items and the list contains the same topic over and over again.
On our site I just put the 'recent topics' ezblock on (most ppl use the ezblocks, though if you use the legacy portal from SMF it probably should be available there somewhere too), which shows all topics where have been new posts. Also the 'new' image-hyperlink next to the topicname points to the last unread message from that topic, rather than the last or first post. Imo, this works a lot better. Especially on a forum with spammers like us (=D), but probably for any forum (and I guess you also have more posts in the private part).

It's just a suggesion, ofcourse you should do what you feel like is best for this forum (I don't see the private part)

we have now both recent posts and recent topics. and both blocks are collapsable (user settings)
