Only to make it clear to everybody, because i have already read stuff here in the forum and on the irc channel:

This forum is not to whine about "wablabla.. , oa is only a big tit anti-'pro-gaming' [sic] game and they dont care about the community... blablalba... leilol is ...blabla". I will consequently delete posts like this. The reason is quite simpel: Leilol and all the others did and still are doing a very good job on making oa what it is today. Without them there wouldnt be oa.
They dont care about the stuff we are aiming for, but: If they dont want to, they dont have to. Everybody who is contributing to oa is spending much time (free time!) on develop and improve stuff, so i wont accept talking shit about it. If you want more 'pro-gaming', well, try to make it on your own (like we are doing now).

I really disapprove the behaving of some people on the openarena.ws forum and want to remind everbody, that making a game costs much time and none of them are doing this for money, and as the game is totally free for you, nobody has the right to complain about missing game content.

Edit: And to be more precise, what our aim is: We are not trying to picmip the whole game and removing all sfx from the game to gain 0.0005 more fps. All these tweaking stuff will be amplified, but still will be only optional. I know playing on fov 120 and 333 fps is making much more fun than playing on default settings, but the bigger goal of this project is to improve the game (textures, map objects, models), not to make it worse.

can you please say some more on the goals of the project? Especially what you mean by

many of the newer additions to q3 by 1.ioquake (voicetools) and 2.OA (models, styles, fonts, gametypes ...) have bloated the game considerably.

in what way will this project address this?

will it
a) work with what is given by ioquake+oa and change or add more things, like have different textures, or speclock in the clanarena mod, or do you plan to
b) re-write bigger parts of the code, or even remove some of the content (oa playermodels).

or

c) both  :) (and fix the announcer bug!! )

would be nice to know where this project is heading.

Hey PopeJo :),

we want to improve the game -> make it look good, great performance and great gameplay.
We will remove and replace some oa content( don't worry, we will keep all oa_bases maps ... ;) ), we will fix bugs AND add new features.

So the answer is c)

i know, that you are not happy at all with this map, but i think that this version is very playable!!!

I had a quick look on the Map (yes, found the source on my PC, thought i had deleted it).

First of all, since i have lost the source of the skybox and therefore as well the licence.txt, i think this must be replaced by a gpl skybox. Second, the lacks to VOID should be fixed for a final map ( i solved this problem by putting the whole map into a big cube, remember that this map was only a alphaversion to test the layout, it was not thought to be a playable map for release). The bugged Jumper on the roof has be fixed, as well as the lightning of the map. Furthermore the map lacks a .aas botfile.

You see, it is still a little work to be done before licencing this map (if i begin to work on that map again, i would also make little further layout changes and texture replacements). But since this map is played regulary on our server, i can do this within the next few weeks.

I had also started a new try with this map a few weeks ago and started to re-texturing it from scratch, but i refused this attempt due to the lack of good textures (those mediaeval evil Lair`s textures doesnt look good on oasago2 imo, allthough there is a nice looking elimination map with this textures). Since i am working on the missing gothic_block and gothic_trim textures, i began to think about a new (third!) try to rebuild it from scratch with good looking gothic textures.  

So, this is the order of my work within the next 2-3 months:
- replacing all textures on pro-q3dm6
- replacing all textures on hub3aeroq3
- replacing all textures on ztn3tourney1
- New HDoasago using the new textures from the three maps above

actually i dont like any sago versions really but the original and the god version. Don't think we should include too many maps anyway (so for sago only original). Just release a couple of -preferably selfinstalling- mappacks if ppl want more.
